CITIZEN SR-II

Description

Brand: CITIZEN
Model: SR II
Type: Scientific calculator
Picture: CITIZEN SR II
Batteries: AA x 2
Lifetime: Introduced: unknown
Terminated: unknown
Notes: This calculator is a beauty. It’s very thin and light (for a calculator with a fluorescent display) and operates on only two AA batteries! It is also very function-complete for a non-programmable scientific calculator.

It’s very hard to find information on CITIZEN calculators and I have no idea why because this is a very nice and useable scientific calculator. I don’t know if this is an OEM model, I would however be surprised if it is, because of its unique functionality.

The calculator uses a fluorescent display without extra status marks, and uses the decimal dots of the display as status marks. For instance, the third decimal point from the right is used to indicate that the "F"-key was pressed. The leftmost decimal point indicates that non-zero data is stored in Memory 0.

Talking about Memory 0, the calculator has multiple memories 0 to 9 that can be addressed using the "SMn" and "RMn" keys on the left side of the keyboard. On the right side of the keyboard you’ll find "M+", "SM" and "RM" keys which operate on Memory 0.

Like any proper scientific calculator, this one can also operate in scientific notation.

Also present are hyperbolic functions, statistical functions conversions between polish and rectangular coordinates, factorials, time conversions.

The fluorescent display is oriented left-to-right, meaning that when you type a number the first digit shows up on the left side of the display, and following digits are appended at the right.
